Philippe II. de Bourbon, duc d’Orléans (* 2. August 1674 in Saint-Cloud; † 2. Dezember 1723 in Versailles), oft kurz auch nur Philippe II. d’Orléans genannt, war Titularherzog von Chartres (1674–1701) und nach dem Tod seines Vaters 1701 Herzog von Orléans, Valois, Nemours und Montpensier, Fürst von Joinville, Graf von Beaujolais und mehrfacher Pair von Frankreich. Er gehörte dem von seinem Vater begründeten Haus Orléans an.

Von 1715 bis 1723 übte er in Frankreich im Namen des noch unmündigen Ludwig XV. die Regentschaft aus. Die Zeit seiner Herrschaft und der währenddessen florierende Kunststil werden daher in der französischen Geschichtsschreibung als Régence bezeichnet, Philippe selbst als le Régent.

Louise-Charlotte de Foix-Rabat, comtesse de Sabran (1693–1768), was a French aristocrat. She was the official mistress of the Philippe II, Duke of Orléans, who was the regent of France during the minority of the infant King Louis XV.

Christine Antoinette Charlotte Desmares (1682 – 12 September 1753), professionally known as M^lle Desmares, was a French stage actress. Scion of a notable comic actor family, she had an active stage career that spanned three decades, performing with the Comédie-Française from 1699 until her retirement in 1721; she was also remembered as a mistress of Philippe II, Duke of Orléans, Regent of France.

Florence Pellerin (fl. 1707), was a French ballet dancer and courtesan. She was the official mistress of Philippe II, Duke of Orléans, who was the regent of France during the minority of the infant King Louis XV. She was the mistress of the duke in 1696–1699.

She was engaged in the ballet of the Paris Opera under the stage name "Mademoiselle Florence". She was described as beautiful but not regarded to be very intelligent or entertaining, and the duke eventually tired of her and left her for Charlotte Desmares.

After, she became the official favorite of Louis II de Rohan-Chabot (1679–1738), son of Louis, Duke of Rohan, who caused a scandal by their open relationship, spending a fortune on her and having several children with her. The scandal caused the King to have her imprisoned in a convent by a lettre de cachet.
