Caroline Louise Beavan Johnson (née Symonds; born 17 March 1988) is an English media consultant, a senior advisor to the ocean conservation charity Oceana, and a patron of the Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation. She is the third and current wife of politician Boris Johnson, who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party from 2019 to 2022.

Symonds was born due to an affair between her father, Matthew Symonds, co-founder of The Independent, and her mother, Josephine McAfee (née Lawrence), a lawyer, who were both married to other people at the time. Raised by her mother in East Sheen, south-west London, she was educated at Godolphin and Latymer School and the University of Warwick, from which she earned a degree in Art History and Theatre Studies. In 2009, she began working as a press officer for the Conservative Party and rose to become the party's head of communications in 2018. In the same year, she began an affair with Johnson, then serving as Foreign Secretary, while he was still married to his second wife, Marina Wheeler. Later that year, she left her role with the Conservative Party for a public relations job at Oceana. In July 2019, after Johnson became Prime Minister, she moved with him into the flat above 11 Downing Street, making her the first unmarried partner of a Prime Minister to officially reside in Downing Street.

In February 2020, after Johnson agreed a divorce settlement with Wheeler, Symonds announced that she and Johnson had become engaged in late 2019 and that she was pregnant. She gave birth to their first child in April 2020. In January 2021, she began working in a senior communications role at the Aspinall Foundation, a wildlife charity. She and Johnson married in May 2021 at Westminster Cathedral, and subsequently had three more children together.

September 2022 amtierte er als Premierminister des Vereinigten Königreichs und war Vorsitzender des Commonwealth of Nations (Juli 2019 bis Juni 2022). Zuvor war er Herausgeber der konservativen Zeitschrift The Spectator (bis Dezember 2005), Bürgermeister von London (Mai 2008 bis Mai 2016) sowie britischer Außenminister (Juli 2016 bis Juli 2018).

Johnson führte die Kampagne der Befürworter eines EU-Austritts des Vereinigten Königreichs vor dem Referendum am 23. Juni 2016 an und galt damals als einer der Favoriten für die Nachfolge des Premiers David Cameron, kandidierte jedoch nicht bei der Wahl des Nachfolgers. In Theresa Mays Regierung war er Außenminister, trat allerdings 2018 zurück, da er nicht mit ihren Brexit-Plänen übereinstimmte. Am 23. Juli 2019 wurde er zum Parteiführer der Conservative Party gewählt. Einen Tag später übernahm er das Amt als Premierminister von Theresa May. Im Oktober 2019 führte er eine vorgezogene Unterhauswahl herbei, die am 12. Dezember 2019 stattfand und den Tories die Mehrheit im Parlament einbrachte.

Seine Politik gegen die COVID-19-Pandemie, die das Vereinigte Königreich seit März 2020 überschattete, war von starken Kurswechseln geprägt. Johnson, der auch selbst erkrankte, verstieß während der sogenannten „Partygate-Affäre“ mehrfach gegen die Corona-Auflagen. Er war damit der erste britische Premierminister, dem während seiner Amtszeit ein Gesetzesbruch nachgewiesen wurde. Weitere Skandale z. B. um Vetternwirtschaft, eine Renovierung des Amtssitzes sowie die Berufung Christopher Pinchers zum Deputy Chief Whip sorgten für vermehrte Kritik. Am 7. Juli 2022 trat Johnson schließlich, aufgrund mangelnder Unterstützung in der konservativen Fraktion, als Parteiführer zurück und kündigte einen Rücktritt als Premierminister an, sobald ein Nachfolger gewählt sei. Am 6. September wurde Liz Truss seine Nachfolgerin in diesem Amt. Im Juni 2023 legte Johnson auch sein Unterhausmandat nieder und schied aus dem Parlament aus.
